Call for dreams

What is our time dreaming?

For the next season of Was it just a dream?, Jungian analysts Cécile Buckenmeyer and Jakob Lusensky invite dreams that seem to reach beyond one person’s life. Anyone may contribute. We also welcome Jungian analysts who, with a dreamer’s explicit consent, feel that a dream from their work may have collective significance.

Charlotte Beradt’s The Third Reich of Dreams gathered dreams from people living under Nazi rule and showed how the pressures of a historical moment could enter the most private life. Our circumstances are different. Her work nevertheless leaves us with a question: what might the dreams of our time reveal if we listened to them together?

To share and listen to dreams may help us find new symbols or revisit old symbols with a new lens, and with them, new ways of facing uncertainty and building resilience with one another. We are not seeking predictions or a single interpretation. We want to make room for images that might help us imagine another way forward.

What happens when you share a dream?

Sharing a dream offers it for consideration. We cannot discuss every dream on the podcast. If we would like to include yours, we will contact you when possible to discuss how it may be presented and what details should be withheld. Please leave out names and other details that could identify someone else. Analysts sharing a patient’s dream should first obtain that person’s explicit consent.

The larger question of a dream archive—how dreams might be held and revisited even when they are not discussed on the podcast—is still being developed. We will describe that separately before inviting contributions to such an archive.
